Yes it is...but how to stop it...
It will be an interesting study. You can proceeds like
1. Identify the pollutants in the area
2. Identify the yield of the crops grown in the areas
3. Compare the yield with the normal yield
4. Analyse the nutrients in the crop grown
5. Examine the likely effect of the nutrients on human body
6. Recommend the policy for implementation
I would agree with Dr. Kainth. But first of all you need to analyze the flue gas and waste water coming out from the power plant. Even include the analysis of water used to spray on roads and gardening. Then along with identification of the pollutants you could identify and justify which are the pollutants coming from the power plant.
Warm regards

Thanks Dr. Kainth
Is it possible to provide me the detailed terms of reference for such study

Additinally , I would like to look for passive sampling/ samplers for primary as well secondry pollutants to be monitord for this study. Details also welcome.

It can be discussed across the table. Alternatively please provide me some more detail about the same

Dear Dr. Jain,
You can incorporate following piece in your ToR
1. Identification of primary pollutant from source (stack emission & waste water discharge)
2. Identification of secondary pollutant in vicinity ( After coming into ambient & meeting of waste water discharge into water body or land disposal .... what ever the aspect)
3. You can compare the collected baseline data from your EIA baseline data (air, water, soil etc..) to get the idea on impact....
4. Ad targeted crop for which you are looking the impact.
5. Give time frame of the study
6. Ad deliverables of the study such as baseline data report submission....draft report submission...
To get the adequate & precise result you would require longer time & various statistical metodology need to applied to reach the conclusion.

If possible pl sahre yr study at email cenpeep_skj@ntpceoc.co.in; skj108@gmail.com

Dr Sahib, this will be a long narrative. Are you planning to study the effect at a botanical level ( i.e. effect of leaf /internleaf morphology, or is the study more concentrated on yield / Ha or foliage cover change? Limiting the study to crops and vegitables will require specific facilities of analysis. If you wish, we can probably meet in case you are in / around Delhi. The experiments need to be planned very meticulously. Emission from GFTP are well documented and may be available with the gas plant in question.

Dr. K. Singh
Main idea is to understand impact of pollution due to power plant on yield and quality of crops and vegetations in the vicinity. Now u may please suggest how to go about.
