I completed my M.Sc in Environmental Science, qualified SET Examination, and, completed M.Tech in Environmental Science and Technology. I stood first in the University at M.Sc, and second in the university at M.Tech. Even if so is the case, I am yet to find a decent paying job, even though I have an experience of 3 years in the Industrial Sector. Is that justice? NO posts have been declared in the Asst professor cadre for Environmental Science on PERMANENT BASIS for almost 3 years now for GENERAL CATEGORY. NO Recruitment in the government sector for GENERAL CATEGORY. I am working on AD-HOC Basis teaching a subject called Environmental Studies, and receiving a meager salary of 12000, and being treated as garbage of the college by the faculty. Being highly qualified isnt enough nowadays. The government isnt supporting as well. The AICTE Changed the norms, and Now, even the IISc candidates having an M.Sc and M.Tech may face joblessness. Is that how this is going to go on?
I am very disappointed by the fact that even my dream subject is facing this problem. We are respected. But what about the pay?????
Respect doesnt feed me.
What can be done???????????????????????????????

Same is the fate of many M.Sc Env. graduates. I think the govt. still does not know that there is a course named M.Sc Env. Sciences. Also is the case with Industries. Hope this will change
I do agree with the situation that is prevalent in the field of environment....despite it being a serious issue....it is infact taken very casually when it comes to ground reality...I am facing the similar problem of joblessness inspiteof been able to complete my M.Sc. in the subject n a spl field of waste management from a very recognised university with a good score.. the associated bodies should ensure some good opportunities for such people who have the degrees but no experience of working in real situations...
I totally agree with you. Even i get disappoint by the non availability of jobs for environment engineers both in private and public sector. Even the scene gets worse when it is for freshers like me. Company require experience candidates for working and i do not know from where they actually start their career!!!
But i think 12000 /- salary is really not deserving for a candidate like you who has such a good academic record. I Belong to Punjab. Here Colleges give atleast 22-25000/- to M Tech people freshers for post of lecturer. Since your SAT is clear, i think u can get post of Assistant Professor. In my College, some well known universities r coming to recruit M Tech students and definitely they pay more than 20,000. With experience, it may get rise. U may try in Sharda university or Mewar Univ or elsewhere u want. Hope it will work for you.
GOOD LUck
regards
Dear,
First don't de-moralised. As you have chosen academic line, so you can't come in industrial line or if you want you can't take any advantage of your 03 years experience. I had very close relation in-between industry and academic. You can switch from industry to academic but can't come in industry from academic.
Although, there is lot of opportunity in academic line and they are paying very good amount as said Manmeet. In which area you belong? If you are in north side, I can try to do something for you.
Believe me, you would be star in coming years in Environment Academic Area, Just faith on your subject/line. I have started my industrial career in 1997 @1720 Rs. PM and now crossed 1.5L PM. It’s a matter of time and luck.

Not really Sagar.Look at it this way,we have all specialized in a topic that most people don't know anything about.Give it a few more years and watch how much in demand you will be.
With me too, my speech pathology & audiology clinic is the main source of income as most people don't have a clue about industrial audiology. So until this awareness level rises be patient & please please dont lose hope.
In fact the scenario is better now. consider people like me who opted for this course and did M.Tech from IIT in 1982. yes lucky enough to find job in MoEF. Now working with a corporate as VP env. Don't get disheartened. There is good scope for people with 3-4 yrs exp now. Pl send your CV and let me see what is your strength. if it suits us we can consider or I can refer to others.
How are your communication skills and technical ability?
Best wishes

Dear Gullapalli,
Yes there might be better opportunity for engineers. But the case of Post graduates in different. I am a post graduate and searched for a job for more than 4 years, worked as a guest lecturer and now working in Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility as Laboratory Chemist, but I am afraid, here also I am not secure, since it's a project. This project will wind up by this December and I am not sure what to do after.
So this is the plight of a Post Graduate.
