Azo dyes

Sme dyes are said to be organic dyes.Otherwise alldyes are Hazardous containing Heavy metals. Some of the dyes contains cyanide aswell(Dyes used for uniforms for Army and Police).Rather than doing research on bio degradation do some thing to optimisation of dye requirements so as to bring down the quantity

As a research student you must go through the literature. A lot of work has gone in to this subject. Search by chemical structure of dyes. This will be more useful.

You may explore the substitution principle of green chemistry (isosteres). Not sure if it is an unexplored area.

Bio-remediation like Using bacteria, Fungi,,,,,,,,Its very effective remediation to compare others,,,

In textile industry mostly reactive or vat dyes are used.

In the effluent treatment systems many of them biodegraded. Some times the effluent also becomes colourless after biological process.

There is a huge amount of data / several research papers ob biodegrdation of textile dyes. you should refer to them.
