Is there any listing of colleges or institutes offering environment engineering or allied (ocean engg, etc) courses? Any information would be appreciated.

it is pity that not only young people but people who have completed PhD from good institute (like me) are unable to find jobs in desired sector of environment. I wanted to work for wildlife but i am not given a break as i lack proper degree for the same.Apart, i am not allowed to pursue the degree due to lack of basic degree. Its sad part of India...........hope things to improve for the young generation

Dear Sangeeta,

I did my engineering in Environmental specialisation from Northern India Engineering College, GGSIPU, Delhi. However now my college has closed this specialisation as they didn't see any profit in this field. But I heard environment engineering again have been started with a intake of 30 students in some govt engineering college affiliated by GGSIPU in Delhi only. So you can try there. We'll you can try in Delhi college of engineering with intake of 30 and you can try at Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad with intake of 30. Its very rare to get engineering degree in Environmental specialisation.

Well wish you good luck. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Piyush

Thank you so much Piyush for your inputs. My daughter wishes to pursue Environmental Engg/Ocean Engg at B,Tech level, which is restricted to 2-3 IITs and 2 NIITs, so the need to widen the options.

I wasn't aware of the Delhi college of Engg, so thank you for this information. And yes, any inputs along these lines would be welcome.

On another note, you are right, neither are there many takers, nor much prospects in India. But here is a message for all those wanting to pursue studies in this domain. The potential is tremendous, but you need to top up your B.Tech / B.Sc with a specialisation / niche area - disaster mgt, earthquake engg., GIS, water resources, agriculture, climate resilience or even IT if you are keen on the programming / technology side.

Wonderful information

I m b.tech in environmental engineering frm ISM ,Dhanbad. Is der any opening whr I cn apply or anything which I cn apply for?

In  India  there are several sector where really need to work only and only environmental engineer,  unfortunately   neither   government  nor private sector given proper   weight age   and restriction at  entry  level in placement. only few institute introduce environmental engineering course but placement part is missing. In all municipal office must be restricted post for environment engineer, not environmental science and other PG diploma etc. this will not only bring good environment as well as future vision
