About me: I am an environment professional based in New Delhi. My aim is to contribute to sustainable development wherein environment does not take a back seat. Some of the issues I have enggaed with are waste management, chemicals safety and food safety. I have been working on these issues in India, South Asia as well as Globally.

CII-Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre is the Centre of Excellence for Green Buildings, Energy, Environment, Water, Renewable Energy and Climate Change activities in India. The Centre sensitises key stakeholders to embrace Green practices and facilitates market transformation, paving way for Indiato become one of the global leaders in green businesses by 2015.

The Centre is housed in a Green Building which received the prestigious LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Ratingin 2003. This was the first Platinum rated green building outside of U.S.A and the third in the world.

The Centre was inaugurated by H.E Dr A P J Abdul Kalam, former President of India, on July 14, 2004.

The setting up of our centre triggered off the Green Building movement in India. Today, India has over 1,646 registered green building projects amounting to over 1.16 Billion sq. ft of green building footprint with projects spread across the five climatic zone of the country. This has been possible with the support of all the stakeholders.

Indeed I have been working on e-waste for quite sometime. I had participated in quite a few of the discussion workshops on the subject conducted by MAIT, GTZ and MOEF prior to the development of the e-waste rules. I have been working on a project on e-waste in the Asia Pacific region for the last four years. With about 30 years experience in electronics industry, especially on environmental issues related to products, ecodesign etc., probably I am comfortably placed to understand issues related to ewaste.
