We have revamped an etp for a yeast manufacturing company with cod after anaerobic treatment 13950 & bod 3500 mg/l respectively. The anaerobic over flow is going to settling clarifier to revome TSS & then is going to aeration tank. We have supplied jet aerator for aeration
But the problem is mlss is not growing. Kindly let me know the cause or solution for the same.

Dear Dash, I think you may have to explore the option of seeding with municipal sludge in a right proportion and also supplement KNP. Also redo actual oxygen requirement to avoid any deficiency with such a high organic content. Good luck!

Dear Dash, recheck your activation steps. There should not be any problem. Send detailed steps so that problem can be understood.

Dear

as i seeing the COD BOD ratio of the effluent is 0.25, hence the system will not work properly.

i can give you better solution if you could send the water balance and volume of waste water.

as we all know the biological system has its own limitation to treat the waste water.

some small modification in treatment process will solve the your problem

Dear Sir,

There are 2 diffent aeration tank br1 & br2. The flow considered for br1 is 16.25 m3/hr & for br2 is 8.75 m3/hr.
Before aeration tank there is primary clarifiers for the respective flow.

Dear sir

we have commissioned the same type plant successfully and there was good growth of Bio mass. you have mention that there are 2  aeration tank. The flow considered for is 16.25 m3/hr for aeration tank I & for is 8.75 m3/hr for aeration tank II. why this flow variation if these aeration tanks are in series. kinldy share the following information.

what is the dissolved oxygen in the aeration tanks.

what is the reduction in the BOD level from each aeration tank outlet.

have you check the nitrogen and phosphorus level in the inlet.

what is the sludge recycle ratio in each aeration tank.

what is the volume of each aeration tank.

have you check the nutrient level in the inlet.

Dear sir,

The two tank is not in series. Both are working parallelly with the above mentioned flow rate as we don't have a single adequate tank. Nitrogen level at the inlet is 1.1 % v/v. COD reduction considered only 10% as required by client. We had given recirculation ratio as 0.6 but as of now it is 100% as there is no growth of mlss. Kindly let me know about the microbial culture u have used. DO value varies from 1.2 to 2.
Dear Mr. Vinod sir,

Kindly give your suggestion for the same.

Dear sir

Sorry to reply late.

In this type of effluent the COD reduction in the aerobic treatment is much less then BOD reduction generally up to 30-35%.

You are getting the COD reduction 10% it mean you are getting BOD reduction is also less but it is confirm that there is BOD reduction from your system. How Much?

Reduction of BOD is showing the presence of BOD mass in your system.

Now problem is why you are not getting Bio Mass in your analysis.

There may be several reasons. Please check.

You are using Jet aeration. The numbers, capacity and configuration of Jet are as per the design. What is the influence area of aeration?  Are there many dead zones in the aeration tank?

Is there floc loss from the clarifier? Is clarifier mechanism is in service and working fine.

What is the size of clarifier, aeration tank capacity of aeration system? Have you measure the DO in dead zones also. How much PPM of nitrogen and phosphorus in inlet.

Is there continuous sludge recirculation. What is MLSS level in PPM and also as SV.

Kindly collect these information so that system can be review. You can also write me at vin_saini@hotmail.com

thank you

Dear sir,

Thank you so much for the reply.I will mail you the details as soon as I get.
