Paryavaran.com-Gateway to Indian Environment Market
Dear All,
The issues of climate change, water and energy are central to any attempt for bridging the gap between “developed” and “developing” nations. These three critical issues have thus far been addressed in isolation from one other, in countries like India. A study of the three-way dynamic relationship between these three issues is necessary to develop national policies which meet India’s development objectives in a sustainable manner.
In purview of this, The Energy & Resources Institute is organizing a one day (April 18, 2012) workshop on Climate Change, Water, Energy Nexus in India, at India Habitat Center, New Delhi, to deliberate on opportunities and challenges for dovetailing the administrative mechanisms and policy framework existing presently. The outcomes from the workshop will help in development of a plan of adaptation which may be capable of streamlining their governance structure.
If you are interested in attending the work shop we would appreciate if you could send a line of confirmation of your participation to nathaniel.dkhar@teri.res.in

Nathaniel B. Dkhar

So very sorry I am not there personally to participate in this discussion and hear the concerns and thoughts expressed. Would love to know where to access the outcome of this forum. Please do inform. Put another way (instead of "development" which I see as a four letter word, a long history of violence and violation of human rights), these three issues are at the heart of the sustainability, human rights and natures rights question. Especially with a population of over 1 billion, and earths carrying capacity compromised under climate change. Up until "India Shining" bubbled up with its much celebrated corporate-consumer culture, it managed to meet most of its needs within its own national ecological footprint. Now it is hungry for its corporate development model and mindless consumerism. Is "development" the development of man-made "wealth" at the expense of true wealth -- the abundance of natural resources upon which our lives depend, and at great cost to social equality, human rights, the rights of children and future generations who are not present at the table where mostly MEN make all the decisions about the direction our society and culture should take? Water, Energy and Climate Change together focus our attention on real wealth versus false wealth. Would love to hear from this gathering.
