Dear Kishore.............An interesting dialogue initiated by you probably catch eye for all. My experience in the Industry and GoI goes back to 1988 when we started our career as a research scholar. Forget about green job people were asking what do you mean by doing work for environmental management? Forget it... .

Slowly the transformation started in understanding the need of an environmental professional in Industries. The job done now a days by an environmental professional is bridging the understanding and implementation of legislative requirements, stepping a further advocating for better, efficient and low carbon technology, compliance by 99.9%.

Probably India understands  and interprets the green job now this a way which is being done by an environmental professional. Aside, all the people who are working for the development for nation, every one of them is a green manager and they should innovate, include and intervene in changing the environmental aspects to economics and probably the entire nation shall work as a Green Force.

It's easy to get distracted by such a big document!! :) It makes for great reading though! Thanks for sharing this, Chandra. It's a question that we constantly ask too, as we are now recruiting in the environmental/sustainability sectors with a focus area on Singapore via www.greencollarasia.com

The ILO/UNEP definitions are good starting points, generally referring to those jobs which have a positive impact on the environment.  These can be created afresh as new industries or may arise within traditional industries.

The IEMA Job Skills Map provides a good summary here to answer your question on skills http://www.greencollarasia.com/2011/11/04/green-jobs-skills-map/
