can anybody tell me about the waste water characteristics of a Solid Waste Processing Unit ? And how it can be dealt with & how can it stop??

SIR,

    It depend upon where it come from either it is municipal solid waste or from any other units like hospital, industrial, commercial etc. If it is mix type then you have to observe the total heavy metals and physical & chemical characteristics.

Waste water characteristics of a Solid Waste Processing Unit depends on type of process. Waste water from dumping site has characteristics such as pH, EC, TDS, COD, BOD, ammonia-N, chloride and heavy metals (Cu, Cr, Ni, Zn, Pb, Cd). Depending upon characteristics it can be treated.If waste is dumped in secured landfill then leachate can be collected and treated otherwise, in open dump the leachate will go to groundwater and pollute it.
