It is the age of packaged drinking water as everybody is becoming conscious about the quality of water consumed by  man. This has led to mushrooming of mineral water plants around the country thus leading to heavy exploitation of the underground water resources on one hand while mass urbanization and concreteness is leading to very little scope for percolation of surface water into the aquifers.

The after effect of this phenomena is that dissolved and undissolved minerals and…

I live in the USA and also direct a small NGO out of Rajasthan. Two years ago, at a major crafts festival there, my NGO tried to introduce a waste-segregation concept just for starters. Although the fair was sited as the cleanest it has been in its 20 year operation, and has now adopted two waste bins per garbage collection site at the fair, it has not incorporated segregation --into biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste . The city, which participated in the project also did nothing further about it. I am very disturbed with the state of affairs in India regarding waste-- its exponential generation, and its sinfully careless disposal -- as though all good sense is dead! I am very interested in working with folks who are doing something about it. There is a growing India wide network of ZERO WASTE designer/thinkers. Are you in touch with them? The next generation needs to be informed on why this is a critical problem they face, and what they must know to quell it now.  Pity the poisoned ancient land  and civilization.

I would love to know where these pictures are taken, and what they are off. Seems like a normal waste disposal system in India. And I would like to know what is anyone doing about it.
