wastewater treament for COD reduction (PIGMENT MANUFACTURING )

what is the best physiochemical treatment for pigment industry/....my inlet COD is 25000 and i want to reduce below 3000...plz suggest me best viable treatment option..

Physicochemical treatment is going to cost a lot. It's also going to have a lot of recurring expenditure and is going going to take large amount of monitoring in terms of consumption and efficiencies. the best possible alternative is biological treatment which not only use a larger amount of efficiency but at the same time reduces the cost of treatment. Combined treatment scheme of anaerobic and aerobic reactors can be designed in such a manner so as to reduce COD to the desired levels or rather much below the desired levels depending on the levels of treatment. I can give you more information and help if you want. You can contact me on the details of my e-mail given in the profile. Finally i suggest once again to review the physicochemical treatment alternative as the cost economics of the same is extremely unfavorable for long lasting and long-term efficiency even though the results may seem lucrative.

Dear Patel,

U can not mentioned the qty.Whether the COD mentioned for combined eff including washings or concentrate.
Best treatment option is Bio reactor where convertoble COD can be converted in to Gas.Remaining eff, further cod can not be brought down as no technology is available.Thereis no any biological system available to bring down the cod to desired levelbeing a chemical eff.
After bring down the COD,It can be treated through R.O to bring down the TDS.R.O Reject can be evaporated and the residue can be disposed as haz waste to land fill.

Plz give process description with raw materials composition. This is to identify treatability of constituents in the stream and to identify problematic sub-streams that can be isolated treated/pre-treated. Inorganic constituents in pigments may inhibit biological process. So identification of treatment technology needs a through look in to the process streams.

The best treatment process is Biological Treatment systems.

YOu need to go for screening chamber, where the solid particles has to removed, then followed Anaerobic Treatment Systems with disgestors, and then followed by 2 stages of biological aeration systems, where difused aerators to be there.

In the anaerobic Treatment system

Use Hydrolytic Bacteria, which will reduces nearly about 50% of COD

In aeration system use

Photosynthetic, hydrolytic, flourscent and odour removal bacteria.. in both stages of aeration treatment process.

In both Anaerobic and Aerobic Treatment maintain the biomass to 30% for the best reduction.

By having good consortium of bacteria you may achieve the COD below 1000 also

SIR WE ARE YELLO PIGMENT MANUFACURING AND PROBLEM DUE TO ACETIC ACID USED IN YELLOW PIGMENT.

i guess you need to identify the complete characteristics of the wastewater, i.e., BOD, COD and TSS along with flow quantity. this will help in finding out the inorganic solids and organic bio-degradable solids. this will help in identifying treatment scheme.

Acetic acid is simple to treat by anaerobic/aerobic process. What about other constituents that are likely to affect treatability of acetic acid.

Dear Mr. Patel,

Sorry, since I am answering very very late, but you will need a combination of chemical and biological treatment to get it below 3000 and tertiary to get it below 500 ppm.
