Hi,

You can get it done in any NABL accrediated labs near your area. U can follow the link below to find one:

http://www.nabl-india.org/nabl/html/prof-test-intro.asp

OR

http://www.whoindia.org/LinkFiles/Traditional_Medicine_Legal_status...

You may contact Prof. S.N. Singh, Head, Ecotoxicology and Bioremedtation Group, National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow (Here I worked for 6 years on one of the areas - "Biogenic Emission of Greengouse Gases especially Methane and Nitrous oxide".

Othe Persons to contact are:

Dr TK Adhya, Central Rice research Institute, Cuttak

Dr Himanshu Pathak, IARI, New Delhi

Dr Prabhat Gupta, National Physical Laboratory (CSIR), New Delhi

All of them are gaving their gas chromatograph equipped with FID / ECD and columns required for CH4 and N2O analysis.

@ Suyash: I have in IOM, Chennai... But that GC is out of order :(

@Dr.Amitosh: I have contacted TK Adhya and Dr Prabhat gupta : they do not undertake such tests it seems sir...

I will contact Dr Himanshu pathak and try in NABL too..

Thanks for your suggestions !

Pls tell me the location whre need to assess the methane? Do u need to assess methane from what source may be landfill or wastewater plant or else? Send me u contact no for details. thanks

Sir,

I will be collecting gas samples from wetlands ( paddy fields, ponds, lakes and dams) it will be stored in vials...  then analyzed by GC for Greenhouse gases ( methane, nitrous oxide etc).

plz send me the details to vicuna19@gmail.com

Thanks..

Potable methane analyzer can be available at Mumbai, but may not useful for u. Potable m a can use for point source analysis. If I other information, I will share to u. thanks

Will I be able to get that potable methane analyzer?

U will get it on hire basis with expert operator. If need send me the no of samples to be analysed on sandeeptayade@gmail.com. One thing I forgot to tell u that the results will be display on % basis.

At Cornell University there is Dr. Robert W. Howarth, David R. Atkinson Professor of Ecology & Environmental Biology Link to CV: click here. E-mail: rwh2@cornell.edu. Office:(607) 255-6175 ... He just finished a study on the lifetime ghg profile of shale gas production (methane) and concluded that its 10, 20, 100 year profile is worse than coal and gasoline.  Unfortunately I know nothing of labs in India, but would love to know, and to learn what is underway with the dangerous practice of shale gas/high volume-high-pressure-hydraulic fracturing.
