Indian Institute of Forest Management, Bhopal one of the best sectoral Management institute in Asia, was set up by the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, in 1982 to provide high quality management education with specialization in Development, Environment and conservation and livelihood. As part of its endeavour to disseminate knowledge on different aspects of environment and allied domain to the scientists, it is organizing training for scientist working in research organization/ institutions/university/department in India sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, New Delhi. The scheduled date for the training is 14th – 18th Feb 2011.
The present nature of job of scientists demands high level of understanding of environmental factors to develop the strategies of adaption with changing environment. The role of scientists are expanding to a new scale and element of new environment changes are providing new horizon of management. Effective conservationist must go beyond a single discipline to become a good communicator, people manager, and politician. The culmination of above three speaks of a successful leader. This training Course emphasizes influential leadership and communication skills to facilitate interactions among scientists and decision-makers on issues related to natural resource and environment management. It will offer an opportunity to learn skills that can be applied to a wide range of situations.
In view of this, this training programme is being organized to enhance scope for application of scientific knowledge in the domain of natural resource management in India. We are inviting prominent practicing experts from Research Institutions, industry, and academia to share their vision and experiences about the latest in the domain.
We request you to kindly nominate 3-4 scientist(s) of your organization/institution for this training programme. Kindly send the details before 7th Feb 2011. Only thirty participants will be selected for this programme and those applying first will be given preference. There is no registration fee for attending this training as the programme is sponsored by DST. The travel expenses will have to be borne by the participants or sponsoring organization. Hence you are requested to send the nominations at the earliest, even before the due date to apandey@iifm.ac.in. We keenly look for your active support and participation in the program.
