DESCRIPTION:Lead is a toxic metal which is known to have serious adver
 se impacts on public health especially among children. Decorative pain
 ts used in developing countries have been identified as a significant 
 source of lead exposure among children and pregnant women. \n \nLead
  paints, including decorative paints used in homes and schools, are wi
 dely available in the market in many developing countries while lead f
 rom paints have since long been substituted in developed countries and
  paints sold in most developed countries are lead free.\n \nToxics Li
 nk started to work on issues related to lead in paints and released it
 s first report “Brush with Toxics” in 2006.  The issue is now par
 t of the European Union SWITCH Asia project currently being implemente
 d in seven countries of South and South East Asia. Toxics Link will un
 dertake various activities to eliminate lead from paints. These activi
 ties vary from testing of paints to awareness campaigns regarding harm
 s of lead paints to holding dialogue with government bodies, paint man
 ufacturers, health personal, academicians and the consumers about esta
 blishing third party certification.\n \nThrough this event, Toxics Li
 nk aims to bring all the various stakeholders on one platform to discu
 ss the action plan and also to find opportunities for collective effor
 t in identifying solutions and help to draw up a guide-map for elimina
 ting lead from paints in India.\n \nYou are an important stakeholder
