Hi,

i'm doing a noise model for an industry site. there is a cluster of fans (~20). i would like to know if the these point sources would be modelled as an area source.

how do we do it: sum the noise sources and provide it as a single area source???

Thanks Dr. Kumar, The fans are located close to each other. i leaning towards modelling as an elevated area source, will have to think about putting directivity into picture, since the propagation of noise is more upwards and downwards.

Dear Vivek,

You can model in two different ways – 1. If the fans are closely placed without any barrier, get the Leq from the noise levels of individual fan and treat the resultant Leq as your area source level. 2. If the fans are distributed in a large area, treat each individual fan as one source.

Sudhanshu
