How to calculate stack heights incase of SO2 emissions are not available

Dear All,

Please advice me how to calculate stack height in case of SO2 emissions are not available. As per CPCB, the stack height formulea is H=14 (Q)0.3, where as Q is SO2 emissions in kg /hr.

If my stack does not emit SO2 emission, what should I consider in inplace of Q in the formulea.

Can I consider NOx emissions and Calculate???

Thanks every one.

I got the answer, in case of only NOx emissions, we can replace in the formulea of SO2 to calculate the stack emissions.

Other than SO2, MoEF/CPCB has some minimum stack height requirements based on the industrial categories, for more information, you may visit this online calculator http://stackheight.envxchange.com/

In case of SO2 and SPM, the formulae for stack height considering SO2 emissions in kg /hr or spm emissions in tonnes/hr has been prescribed. Where as no such thumb rule for gas based power plants and for other NOx emitting plants has been suggested by CPCB. In such cases, NOx emissions are being replaced in the formula for SO2 and stack height is being estimated practically. That gives a fair amount of dispersion to the pollutants and has proved well for a few operating and proposed industries I know.

For plants where the particulate matter emission IS estimated as Q(tonnes/hr)the stack height, H in metres is given byH = 74 (Q)0.27
