Growing strawberry in the tribal-dominated area - Hillarious!!

This is a funny initiative taken up by the mining giant Vedanta under its Corporate Social Responsibility programme, I find it very hilarious for the facts that, first it is an exotic species, secondly the communities have no control over its market, thirdly it will effect the local food crops, and what about the propagation of this? Do the communities have the nursery and other facilities and having known the impacts of introduction of exotics (animals and plants) how far do you recommend the introduction of an exotic species like this in ecologically sensitive areas like forests!!!! can some one tell me this. Please read the article in which this initiative was shown in a very colourful way. This is my view would like to know your perspective too.. Thank you.

Dear Ms. Sheetal Nagare, Thank you for your response and feedback, I too don't have much info. with me to analyze this! I felt a bit confused about the way initiatives are promoted and then projected with attractive hues. I still wonder about the capacity and competency of the authoritative body which gave nod for promotion. As you rightly said it is a bit too ambitious to comment on this unless detailed information is available to draw a clear picture.

It do sound hilarious but there are many aspects which i hope vedanta has thought like first of all reason for choosing exotic species for cultivation. i hope there must be some authoritative body who has approved it. Yes, local species should be preferred, it also should have good market so that local can get economically developed. species should also be selected based on the changing trends of climate. there are many such points which are not highlighted in the article so its difficult to comment.
