Details of Environmental standards for coal based thermal power plant to be notified in 2015 by MOEF

The details are as follows:

 

 

 

 ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS FOR THE COAL BASED THERMAL POWER PLANTS   TO BE NOTIFIED IN 2015

 

Pollutants	TPP installed before 2003 and vintage	TPP installed after 2003 to till date	TPPs to be installed from January-2017
Particulates	100 mg/Nm3 within  2 years	50 mg/Nm3	30 mg/Nm3
SO2	Smaller than 500 MW capacity units-600   mg/NM3 with  2 years	Units having capacity of 500 MW and   above- 200 mg/Nm3 within 2 years	100 mg/NM3
NOX	600 mg/NM3 within 2 years	Shall meet the norms of 300 mg/Nm3   with 2 years	100 mg/NM3
Water consumption ( 3.5 m3/MWH)	-	-	All existing CT based shall reduce   specific onsumption to max.of ( 3.5 m3/MWH) New plant to be installed after   Jan-2017 shall consume max.2.5m3/MWH) and should achieve zero liquid   discharge

Dear sir,

A committee has been constituted under chairmanship of Joint secretary( thermal) Ministry of power comprising of MOP,MOEF,IIT Delhi, CEA, NTPC, BHEL, Govt. Gujarat and Gov.Maharashtra to examine green rating report on Coal based thermal power plants prepared by CES and conducted two meeting on  26.3 and 30.3 2014 and 2nd meeting committee discussed about proposed Environmental standards of coal based thermal power to be notified in 2015, these minutes are widely under circulation all major power comanies which includes, Essar,GMR, Vedanta, relianceada, welspun and sevaral companies. This is for your information and necessary comments/suggestions  on proposed environment standads to be notified in 2015
