About me
An Applied Geologist academically from the University of Delhi, India, I have had a progressively more responsible nine years working experience in the integrated natural resources management and climate change sectors with capacity building and training as a major mandate. I have worked at micro, meso and macro levels in these sectors.

Indo-German Bilateral Project "Watershed Management" involved working at the micro level in the field for implementing soil and water conservation, capacity building and training, alternate energies, alternate livelihoods, micro credit activities, hydrological monitoring, impact monitoring through both participatory and technical approaches. Some notable achievements during this assignment were developing a decision support system for decision makers at the macro level and conceptualizing how the project can contribute to climate change adaptation. As an in-charge of hydrological monitoring, I was also responsible for capacity building for hydrological data collection, analysis and maintenance of hydrological equipments.
My experience with the Indo-German Bilateral Project "Capacity Building & Training" - IGBP-CB&T- Maharashtra State, India for watershed development and agriculture extension management was targeted at a meso level. I was in the GTZ team involved in supporting, advising and synergizing implementation of project activities that included development of need-based training programmes, development of participatory monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, generation of criteria for selection and further capacity building of master trainers, augmentation of training facilities, networking with other institutions as well as improvement of management of the training institutes to make them demand driven, user oriented and financially sustainable.
In my assignment in the NRM division of GTZ I was entrusted with the responsibility of assessing the potential and operational steps to integrate adaptation options into GTZ India’s Natural Resource Management (NRM) / Watershed Management (WSM) policies and programmes as well as of assessing the conceptual linkages between climate change adaptation with local governance and resource governance. I was also involved in a feasibility study for an upcoming GTZ project for rural economic enterprise development where I looked into the training requirements and gaps for assisting and developing entire value chains for natural resource based products.
At TERI India, I had been exposed to research and policy analyses in climate change, renewable energy and rural enterprise development sectors. I was the Principal Investigator for conducting a training workshop on “Emerging issues in the Watershed Management Sector” for senior officials of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. I was involved in projects on Ecosystem Services and Poverty Alleviation (ESPA), Climate Change Adaptation, Feasibility study for setting up a biomass to liquid (BTL) plant in India as well as in Monitoring and Evaluation of a World Bank assisted watershed management project. I was also involved in a KfW Fact Finding Mission for initiating Climate Change Adaptation Projects in North East India.
Currently I am involved in mainstreaming climate change into the mandate of a national NGO as a freelance consultant.
