About me: Subrata Hait received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering in 2002 from North Bengal University and Master of Civil Engineering with specialization in Environmental Engineering in the year 2004 from Bengal Engineering and Science University (BESU), Shibpur. He received his Ph.D. Degree in Civil Engineering for the research work titled “High-growth Membrane Bioreactor for Sewage Treatment Coupled with Vermicomposting of Sludges” from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in the year 2011. Till May 2012, he worked as Senior Project Engineer at IIT Kanpur within a consortia of 7 IITs towards the Preparation of Ganga River Basin Environment Management Plan (GRB EMP), a project sponsored by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Govt. of India (GoI), for abatement of pollution and to restore continuous and unpolluted flow in the Ganga River. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Patna from June 2012 onward. His current research interests include water and wastewater treatment, solid and hazardous waste management, composting and vermicomposting of organic wastes, human excreta management, conventional and ecological sanitation, etc. He has published 17 papers at his credit in various national and international journals and conferences. He has also authored 7 technical reports for various national agencies.
