Profile Information

About me
Ashish is the project designer of the Mumbai Megaproject and the Indian Education Megaproject. He has over 20 years of experience working with some of the finest global talent in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors and specifically in the area of large infrastructure project design where he is a specialist.

Starting his career in 1992 as a project engineer ( utilities and power plants ) within a giant petrochemicals complex he soon took up a 5 year design and planning assignment involving an integrated LNG, port, gas pipeline and power plant project. In 2001, after obtaining an MBA in international business, Ashish made a big shift in his career by moving into a fully operations oriented, hands on role as a crude oil financial derivatives trader.

This job at the cutting edge of finance helped hone his understanding of global financial markets and its myriad players besides a deep understanding of the business of oil itself.

In 2006, Ashish moved again, this time into a senior corporate planners role. His expert knowledge of the oil industry and the factors determining the price of oil has seen him making accurate calls in a number of instances, the most notable of which is his accurate prediction in Aug 2008 of the price collapse from $ 147 / Bbl to $ 62 / Bbl in Nov 2008. Besides advising on oil price Ashish has designed a second integrated LNG project, a hydrogen highway project ( based on 2nd hand wind turbines ) and a CO2 – Enhanced oil recovery project … over the last three years.

In his role as a senior corporate planner, he has for four years also been coordinator of an International Advisory Board consisting of leading diplomats, G–7 finance ministers, economists from Harvard and scientists from around the world. It was during this period that the Indian Education Megaproject was written and presented to the Planning Commission in 2010.

Given this background, Ashish has a detailed understanding of not just the engineering issues involved in large infrastructure projects but he also possesses knowledge of finance, economics, geopolitics and central planning of a very high order.

Ashish is currently interested in establishing and codifying techniques that will help future designers conceptualize & design large infrastructure projects from scratch. This is a highly specialized, inter-disciplinary area with project size in excess of US $ 300 Million.
