What do you want to learn as a tool for doing good?

Dear IEN Members,

The first step towards self-improvement in your job is the realization that you want to learn to do something well.

Since most of you are in the environment sector, tell us two things that you would like to LEARN right now in your particular job that could significantly improve your credentials and help you solve the problems in your job well.

Let's share and develop a full list of problems, technical abilities and life changing skills that you need now! Then we can ask for help from one another to learn those stuff that someone else might have mastered.

Here's two examples from me.

1. I would like to learn what is involved in starting a successful eco-tourism venture or a eco-resort to help preserve ecologically sound areas ?

2. I would like to learn how to extract(!) the the skills available with IEN professionals and transfer to those who don't have it so that they can help develop a sustainable world faster and in my lifetime!

So what do you want to learn and how do you want to apply and transfer your existing skills???

I would like to learn

1. Environmental policy making and Environmental legislation

2. Environmental friendly project proposal and management. (I want to work as assistant to any one who work in this sector).

3. I want to prove that traditional heritage is environmentally friendly activities for that particular place as weather conditions are different at different places.

I am looking forward to use Geographical Information System. Due to time constraint, I would like to use the Semester break (in Jan-Feb or May-June). If you know any organisation offering such courses, please let me know.

I would like to learn;

1) Sustainable finance- Responsible investment strategies for the investors/other organizations (Investment strategies considering Environment and Climate change as one of criteria).

2) Renewable energy regulatory framework (Currently working on it for Indian RE sector).

3) Environmental informatics (Might be wrong word here) - Want to learn techniques to share moreover information in Environment and Sustainability domain. Want to make complex information simple by learning and understanding.
