There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more.
~George Gordon, Lord Byron, Childe Harold's Pilgrimage

A very beautiful quote over mother nature which is definitely close to mother nature. We are the best creations of nature. All creatures are unique but it is true that we are the most blessed as we have the capability to think and analyse. This thinking and analyzing power has given us unique hierarchy over other creatures and we can not only think. analyze but also understand.
But have we really understood everything about nature? Advancements in scientific thoughts make man feel he has conquered all. Basic phenomenon and theories have been given by Scientists but every second with ticking time, nature creates a special phenomenon to settle the prevailing randomness. These changes we cannot see or feel but will have to re-think and observe.
The scientific community has a different outlook towards nature and natural phenomenon but there is always a philosopher in each one of us.
It will be delightful to read various comments and outlooks (may be philosophical or scientific thought) over this aspect of "Understanding Nature by the Scientific community"

Excellent Mrs Munmun.  I agree with your thoughts. I would like to write that man has not understood Mother Nature.  Can you imagine the mysteries and secrets behind the "Forces of Nature" ? Wordsworth says that " Nature never did betray the heart that loved her".  If man has the capability to observe the secrets of creation, he will never destroy nature.  Scientific community can think of mankind's welfare only. But I have the following quote for our beloved Scientific Community in India:

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep,

But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,

And miles to go before I sleep.(Robert Frost)

yes. Our Scientific community in India has promises to keep and miles to go!

Very well said. Scientists can see more in this world than others do. I paint the nature with the "view of an artist as well as a scientist". Then I write poems with the "view of a poet as well as a scientist". This "wholesome view" makes me a true living being of a Multiverse! What a heavenly feeling!
No one can understand or fathom the mysteries on Nature. Because we are also a part of nature like a baby nourished in a mother's womb. Can a baby ever understand a mother completely while it is still in her womb?? And why only scientist.. a man whose thoughts are  not corrupted and true can understand a nature more than any one else. Such a person can be an artist, a philosopher, a painter...These are the people who are much closer to nature than anyone else..even more than a scientist because they derive their inspiration from nature

Dear Friends,

Well said about the mother nature.I personally feel that person who possess a post of so called scientist in relal term is not a scientist if he is working in environment or wildife he is simply a naturalist.I feel that scientist term is very noble a person who by his work can give something to our society for betterment and with achievement.I have seen in number of organisations people from all India servecs turned into scientist or become professor which is not fair.

If we want to learn and want to know about mother nature we have to devote time with mother nature and tune overselves accordingly. Here I am telling about the people working in the field of wildlife. Since I have worked in this field for last 30 years.

Very well said maam, this is what i wanted to reflect, that Scientists often boast of knowing the maximum but to understand Nature we require different outlook, that of an artist, of a philosopher, of just a careful observer. Science today is moving in a destructive direction, that is towards generation of more randomness rather than stability. We are just digging the soil, pumping water, using technology to check what phenomenon  is responsible. But we fail to see the way nature in adjusting to the randomness. I will give u a small example. We often find ants bringing mud inside our house to build nest at door- corners. It is really very annoying site to see that dug mud springing on the clean floor. Now take the case of the development of science...If the earth is a clean floor and the technocrat humans are the ants..then i think we should also be treated by nature the same way we treat the ants (tortured till dead) How far the scientific community is right is still a question. I apologize for being a bit critical over the scientific community but being in the same profession, i am myself seeking the truth

I disagree with you when you say to understand Nature you need a different out look than that of the one scientists have. Can only artists ( with their way of seeing Nature differently) understand and enjoy Nature in a better way? I beg to differ. I wrote an article on this and posted on my network Art Lab. It is titled " Is art antonym for science". An artist or an ordinary person can see a leaf only superficially. A scientist can see it at the atomic level and can still marvel at the miracles of Nature. That is seeing more than others can do and still enjoying it. An artist can see the moon as a silver ball hanging in the sky and enjoy it. A scientist can go further and think in terms of space, time, gravity and can still have a wonderful feeling when all these are followed by planets and their satellites in a beautiful rhythum of Nature! I am a scientist, an artist, a writer, a poet, a designer and I don't think a scientist  needs a different outlook to enjoy nature. You can enjoy Nature with the view of a scientist too and it is as beautiful as the ones others have and in a way more wholesome! Because you can see the whole picture not a partial one like the others do!

You said: "Science today is moving in a destructive direction, that is towards generation of more randomness rather than stability"

Science itself is not bad. The way you use it can be good or bad. The benefits of Science and technology are like knives. You can use them for cutting fruits and vegetables and also to spill blood. It is up to you which way you want to go. The choice is yours ( I painted a picture based on this very theme). It has become fashionable to criticize Science and technology for all the evils we face in today's world.. Science is looking bad because we don't know how to use it in a proper way! It is like a bad worker complaining about his tools!

Dr. Krishna Kumari Challa: Thanks a lot for your lateral thinking and i must admit that you have corrected me on this note. Real Scientist are the ones who can see deep....may be any field....... but the fact is people who are professionally placed as scientists are so much busy to perform, meet the agenda that we fail to see real science. I have not criticized science, but just tried to bring out the current situation where the "scientist" is not able to focus on science.
My pleasure, Munmun.
