TO WHOM SO EVER IT MAY CONCERN
Sir / Madam,
Sub: Proposal on Eco Friendly Cost Effective Sustainable Solution of “Henna Bio Fence” to Arrest the Wild Boar, Animal Attacks & Human Tress Passing on to the Crop Fields and to Stop Crop Loss on a Permanent Mode – “Henna Bio Fence” is a Low Cost Alternative for Solar, Barbed Wire, Chain Linked Mesh & Brush Wood Fences - Request for Collaboration for Introduction of Sustainable Greening Measures & Livelihoods - Reg.
This is to bring to your humble submission that we founded our NGO in the year 2000. Since then we have been promoting various eco friendly concepts, pro-environmental initiatives and sustainable development projects. With our vast field-level practical experiences we have observed and noticed that the farmers of our country are facing severe crop loss issues due to wild boar & wild animal attacks, frequent natural calamities, global warming effects, non availability of labor, cost escalation and climate change issues.
It is known fact that many of the wild animals have shifted their habitations from the forests to farm fields due to man-made mistakes such as severe deforestation and high level destruction in the forest areas. Due to the above situations the farmers who make 70% of the Indian community are slowly leaving agriculture and migrating to the urban habitations in search of livelihoods resulting in many of the villages are becoming deserts and the population pressure is at high level in urban areas which causing social & economic issues.
It is known fact that the most of the countries are shifting towards naturals in all walks of life and the demand for organic products is ever increasing and it is time to throw light on promotion of different eco-friendly sustainable farming measures & concepts to safe guard the interests of struggling farmers. Today the economic status of the farmers is not supportive to have the highly expensive Solar, Barbed Wire, Chain Linked Mesh & Brush Wood Fences. More over the demand for Natural Dyes is increasing day by day and the market scope of Henna value added products is ever increasing. Hence, the cost effective Henna Bio Fence would be an ultimate sustainable solution for farmers fencing problems.
Mission:
Keeping in view the alarming situation faced by the farming community due to wild boar & wild animal attacks which is great concern to the society today we have come up with an eco-friendly, cost- effective sustainable solution of "Henna Bio Fence”. It is non-grazing & pest-free because it is astringent in nature which can be an effective NPM measure, sustains for longer period hence it is perennial, drought tolerant because it can pass through severe climatic situations, creates additional man days through raising, post harvest measures and also generates income because the demand for natural dyes is ever increasing.
Hence "Henna Bio Fence" can be an eco-friendly cost-effective sustainable solution in place of highly expensive solar, chain linked mesh & barbed wire fences and can act as income & employment generating measure. This also can be taken up in all the Schools, Govt. Offices, Community Lands, Barren Hills, Tank Bunds, Trench Bunds & Earth Works as Border & Avenue Plantation, Soil Conservation & Sustainable Greening Measure. This will also work as Soil improvement measure as Green Manure and NPM measure because of its astringent Nature & strong Chemical composition.
Natural dyes are pro-environment and obtained from renewable resources with no health hazards are traditionally used since ages to impart color. There is renewed interest in the application of natural dyes throughout the world today, as environmental norms become stringent and the awareness about protection and preservation of environment grows day by day. The entire world is facing the side effects of synthetic products and there has been increasing interest in natural dyes, as the public become aware of health issues, ecological and environmental problems related to the use of synthetic dyes. Henna as natural dye is being used in Textiles, Handlooms, Leather, Beauty, Hair & Health Care, Cosmetics & Tattoo Industries etc.
Objective:
Implementation of this scheme can attain 15% annual growth of farmers income on a sustainable way under holistic development of agriculture & Horticulture in the country by arresting huge crop loss happening due to wild boar & wild animal attacks, by adapting NPM measures, controlling soil erosion & enhancing soil fertility in organic way using Henna Leaf as Green Manure, conserving moisture & natural resources and social & economic advantages through NTFP activities.
Considering the above facts, concerns and in light of the multi beneficial advantages, as responsible Non Government Organization we have initiated this "Henna Bio Fence" project to help the economically struggling farmers. We request for collaboration of NGO Net Works to impart trainings, to create awareness and to transform the concept of an eco-friendly, sustainable and cost effective "Henna Bio Fence" to the farmers to protect the crops from wild boar & animal attacks and to improve their income levels.
In addition to the crop protection measure there is lot of scope for employment generation through value addition and marketing. “Henna Bio Fence” is also useful as NPM, NTFP, SMC, NRM & Sustainable Greening measures. This can be taken up all the Schools, Govt. Offices, Community Lands, Barren Hills, Tank Bunds, Earth Works and for many more greening applications on a sustainable mode.
The Decoction of henna leaves because of its strong chemical composition can be used as Bio Pesticide for all the crops which reduce the pest management expenditure for a longer period. It also controls the cross pollination (Isolation) issues between different crops. Henna Bio Fence in one meter width all along the periphery of the crop fields in multiple rows with close spacing will become as thick & strong fence which completely arrests the wild boar and animal attacks. Reducing crop loss itself is great benefit to the farmers and as well to the nation and also there are many social & economic advantages in addition to the crop protection measure.
Economic & Social Benefits:
By implementing the proposed Henna Bio Fence project, there would be estimated crop enhancement benefit as follows. Arresting annual crop loss happening due to wild boar & wild animal attacks is to the tune of:
1. Rs.25,000 - 30,000/- per Acre in the case of Sugarcane.
2. Rs.15,000 - 20,000/- per Acre in the case of Maize.
3. Rs.15,000 - 20,000/- per Acre in the case of Groundnut.
4. Rs.15,000 - 20,000/- per Acre in case of paddy, pulses, cereals, millets etc.
5. Rs.10,000 -15,000/- per Acre in case of Horticulture Crops & Fruit Orchards.
Social Benefits:
1. To promote natural dyes through promotion of Henna Bio Fence.
2. To generate additional man days through nursery, plantation & post harvest.
3. To generate employment opportunities through value addition & marketing.
4. To help the farmers in promoting organic farming through NPM practices.
5. To generate tax revenue on a sustainable mode to the Govt.
6. To earn foreign exchange earnings through exports.
7. To reduce the burden on govt. on long term basis spending for crop area expansion.
8. To arrest the migration from villages to urban habitations.
9. To stop crop loss & soil erosion on a permanent mode.
Beneficiaries:
Small & Marginal Farmers can be considered best, for henna bio fence & henna plantations as rain-fed crop and stop migration, create employment, increase source of revenue from the very 3rd year which can support them for a minimum period of 50 years. Once the plantation is done the leaf production will start from 3rd year onwards and by that time the Process Industry can be set up based on the area covered to manufacture different value added products such as Henna Powder, Henna Hair Packs, Mehendi Cones, Henna Paste Tubes, Liquified Natural Dyes, Natural Tattoos etc. There is lot of scope for additional man days generation during off seasons through post harvest measures and employment generation through value addition & marketing. In addition to the additional man days and employment opportunities this will also generate Tax revenues and foreign exchange earnings to the government on a sustainable basis.
Approvals:
The Andhra Pradesh State Govt. has issued a G.O. MS NO: 950 to promote Henna Plantations, NABARD has approved the unit cost @ Rs.36000/- per hectare of Bio-Fence and the Andhra Pradesh State Assembly Departmentally Related Standing Committee on Agriculture has unanimously recommended Henna Plantations for various Govt. programs.
The CRIDA, Horticulture University, ICAR, ICRISAT, KVKs, National High Ways, Railways, Agriculture, Horticulture, Irrigation & Municipal Administration Departments and various Central & State Govt. Departments have recommended Henna Plantations as sustainable green measure for different applications.
Implementation Plan:
This can be implemented in a strategic way under Horticulture programs through raising of Nurseries at Cluster Level by involving the community. The Nurseries are to be taken up during October and November Months and the transplantation can be taken up during the next monsoon. Generally the plantation can be taken up after 4-5 showers during monsoon with naked henna seedlings of 2-3 feet height. Once the plantation is done the life saving wettings are to be provided 4-5 times a month during the first one year up to the next monsoon. Second year onwards there is no need of watering and can be maintained by loosening of soil twice in a year with zero budget up to 50 years.
After 2 years (30 Months onwards) of plantation the pruning process will take place and they can be evenly pruned once in 6 months annually and the collected leafy material can be used as green manure for the crop fields for soil fertilization, NPM measure for protection of the crops as Bio pesticide in a Natural Way and the Henna Leaves can also be shade dried and sell in the market as per the prevailing market rates or with market tie up arrangements on a long way. There is good scope for generation of additional man days through post harvest measures and value addition during the summer and off season.
Once the targeted plantation area is covered the processing and value addition units can be set up by involving the community at district level to produce “Farm Fresh Henna Powder, Mehendi Cones, Natural Tattoos, Henna Hair Packs and Natural Pesticides.” There is lot of scope for employment generation at grassroots level through Value Addition, Marketing, Tattoo Centers etc. and we can stop importing Henna Products from other states. This also will generate maximum Tax Revenues to the Government because it is a Cosmetic Product. The value added products can also be exported to more than 100 countries who are importing from India.
Deliverables:
1.We can supply the developed high pigmentation varieties of Rajani / Hazani Henna Seed Packs of One(1) Lakh Units @ Rs.1500/- each including all Taxes, Transport Charges @ 50% cost if we get good volume of Orders and we can deliver goods within the stipulated time as per the specified norms of Purchase Order.
2.We also can provide all sorts of Agronomical Advisory Services such as Nursery Raising Techniques, Plantation Practices, Pruning Methodology, Post Harvest Measures, Value Addition and Marketing by charging reasonable service charges. (Seed to Sale)
3.We train the communities in preparing different value added products including NPM formulas by using the Henna Leaf Decoctions to protect the crops & homestead gardens from different pest attacks. This will slowly reduce the usage of most hazardous chemical pesticides which cause severe health issues to the public.
4.We can generate maximum employment opportunities to the women and educated youth by involving them in to post harvest measures, processing, value addition and marketing. The entire value added products will be sent back to the end users involving youth force.
Appeal:
Keeping in view the above facts, we request for collaboration from NGO Net Works who have strong base at grassroots level to implement this Henna Plantations under different Land Development Schemes and to encourage an eco-friendly, sustainable and cost effective "Henna Bio Fence" for farm fields to protect the crops from wild boar & wild animal attacks and to improve the income levels of the farming community.
Henna Plantations can also be taken up as vegetative measure in the Schools, Govt. Offices, Community Lands and on all the earth works such as tank bunds, trench bunds, CCTs, barren hills forestation, catchment treatment measure, foreshores, vegetation on farm ponds, bio fence for houses to protect homestead gardens etc. We request your attention towards promotion of this multi beneficial sustainable concept in the interest of the Farmers on the lines of “Swatch Bharat” movement.
We are well experienced and ready with Men & Material to provide inputs such as Awareness Generation, Supply of Seeds, Agronomical Advisory Services, Nursery Raising Techniques, Plantation Practices, Pruning Methodology, Post Harvest Measures, Value Addition & Marketing on reasonable costs. Hence, we request you to consider this proposal and allow us to collaborate with you to supply “Henna Seeds” as per the mutually agreed upon terms. We expect your focus on this matter to create a "Sustainable World" and to generate "Green Wealth" for future Generations.
Thanking You
with best regards
