Paryavaran.com-Gateway to Indian Environment Market
Dear Envitrans,
Is any one have any idea about management of Mercury-Containing Light Bulbs (Lamps)/ light tubes, bulb waste (Hazardous waste) in India? I have few queries as below,
1. When does a mercury-containing lamp become a waste?
2. How to calculate the Light-tubes, bulb & mercury-containing lamp waste? On basis on numbers w.r.t. watts or by weighing them in Kgs/tons?
3. Is there any Indian Regulation for proper disposal/ Management and criteria to evaluate the total waste.
4. What are the waste management requirements for small quantity and large quantity handlers of waste lamps?
5. What are the proper recycling/disposal procedures for businesses under the Indian Waste Rule?
I hope you will revert here ASAP.
Thanks & Best Regards,
Vikram

Dear Vikram,
Worth reading the attached Technical Guidelines by Central Pollution Control Board for the "environmentally sound mercury management in fluorescent lamp sector".
