Case Studies/study proposals (concepts) Invited : Environment and Disasters Project

Dear Colleagues and friends,

NIDM (www.nidm.gov.in) intends to accept an Indo-German Collaboration with GIZ (German Technical Cooperation & Capacity Building Initiative) in form of a project Ek-DRM (Environment and Knowledge Mangement for Disaster Risk Management), wherein a component is case studies/research and documentation on thematic issues. We look for availability of intents from the researrchers/NGOs/scholars on following aspects:

1. Case studies on 'Environmental degradation resulting in disaster or aggravating disaster'

2. Case studies on 'Disasters impact on environment'

3. Case Studies on role of informaiton, Decision system or knowledge management in envirnment management leading to disaster risk reduction

4. Ecosystem approach or natural resource management linkage with disaster risk reduction.

4. Environmental law and policy (on env../nrm) linkage for disaster management

These may be comprehensive or partial, region specific or wider, compoental or holistic studies already carried out ready to compile and publish, or in process, or in proposal state. Project shall consider some of such proposal for some support as well undertakinng publishing these in form of modules/booklets under the authorship of the researher/writer/compiler as a team with some honorarium/remuneration.

We encourage the researchers to send us intent/proposal of having such case studies/documentation or possibility of their engagement. Please send a brief on the propsoed study/documentation on email to Dr Anil K Gupta ([e-mail]).

Point 4 also involves role of forests in DRR, Joint forest management/community forestry in DRM, role of agroforestry, biodiversity, wetlands, watershed, wasteland management, mangroves, ....so on so forth....in DRR. Rapid EIA of disasters, Environmental Recovery after disasters, etc.

This is a  very good proposal. I would like to submit the research proposal with regards to Environment Protection and Disaster: Case study of Tribal Areas of the Himachal Pradesh. Is any last date for submission of this proposal.
