Carbon Foot Print Calculation for Trees and Plants

Could someone give me an idea as to how to calculate the carbon footprint of existing trees to be considered as carbon offsets to move towards the path of carbon neutrality in a business?

Some of the carbon calculators from web indicate that 1 tree having a life of 40 years can offset 1 ton of Co2 while others indicate it is 1.4 ( Data from Australia and USA where tree species are different)

In the case of forests methodologies have been evolved considering the bio diversity. For smaller areas, gardens or a boundary with some aged trees, creepers/shrubs, is there  a simple method for calculating the footprint?

For Indian conditions, is there a methodology to calculate carbon footprint of existing tress so that it can be considered as carbon offset? 

Could you provide references of literature/websites please?

The easiest method could be estimating the biomass through ecological assessment techniques. Rough estimate could be 50% Carbon absorption of total dry weight.
